….when Sekhmet saw how disrespectful the people on Earth had become to one an other, to Ma'at and to her father Ra, she went into rage and began a slaughter that evolved into a carnage. No human would escape her wrath. Worried about Sekhmet's boundless bloodlust, Ra called upon all the Egyptian deities for help. Ra loved the children of earth as they were his creation. Thoth the god of wisdom made prepare 7000 vats of barley beer (ancient Egyptian beer wasn't like what we know today, it was a nourishing, sacred drink that provided entrance to altered states of consciousness) spiked with powerful herbs, magical and mind altering and pomegranate juice to dye it the colour of blood. Mistaking the brew for human blood, Sekhmet drunk it and was subdued to a drunken stupor which expanded her mind to a different state of consciousness and opened her heart. When Sekhmet woke up saw what she had done with the new eyes of compassion and her rage was transformed into love. She became a powerful healing force while still remaining a fierce warrioress in defence of Ma'at, the divine order, justice and truth.
